MSG Presents: "Characters From Corporate" -Walking The Fine Line Between Cocky and Confident
In this bold and introspective episode of Characters from Corporate, we hear from a 34-year-old Black woman crushing it in L.A.’s competitive real estate scene. As her success grows, so does her confidence—sometimes crossing into cockiness. After telling a teammate she could quit today and have job offers within 15 minutes, she’s left wondering: How do I stay grounded when I know I’m that girl?
The hosts unpack this dilemma with honesty and heart—reflecting on their own battles with ego, the need for internal motivation, and the power of humility. They offer guidance on keeping your mindset strong without letting it spill into arrogance, giving credit where it’s due, and staying connected to something bigger than yourself. Whether you’re rising fast or already at the top, this episode will have you asking: Can I flex and still be grounded?
A must-listen for anyone navigating ambition, confidence, and character in high-stakes professional environments.

So just get the characters from corporate this week. Characters from corporate comes from, um, a 34-year-old black woman from Los Angeles, California. Shout out to la shout out to la. I work in real estate as a real estate broker. I work in a very competitive environment and find myself outproducing. Most of the people.
Our team, our, I find myself getting more and more cocky by the day. Damn struggling. Balancing success with being humble. I told a member the other day from my team that my network is so strong that I could quit right now and have hundreds of job offers within 15 minutes. I know that I'm the character from corporate, but how do I balance?
Success with being humble. Wow. That's why submissions. Wow. And I was real. [00:01:00] That was great. Successful Stu. You know how it is. I know how it is. I've been burned by my own ego in the past. My own pride and ego has burned me. And what's trying?
Well, at least, you know, and I think the, the, what you do is you focus on it every day. Focus on it every day to, and look, look, now I'm about to go here. You've never, none of, none of you in, in two and a half, three seasons have ever heard this part of me. But I'm about to go there. But you have to ask God to minimize you and maximize him.
Ask God for the guidance. That's what works for me. God, ask God for the guidance. Eric, what do I have to say about that? Well, I'll say this. Sometimes you need to be cocky, [00:02:00] arrogant, and less than humble to get to where you're trying to go. Mm. Maybe you could, you know, a young lady from LA maybe you can keep a lot of that in your mindset and not necessarily display that or, or put that on people.
Mm. Right. So most, some of the most successful people that I've ever met in my life, they treated other people very well. Mm. Even though in their mind they probably was like, yo, I'm that dude. I'm the illest. I'm the best. There's nothing wrong with that. 'cause that's the kind of stuff that goes on in my mind.
You know, I, I, I do that for motivation. I try to continue to treat people very well, so I would just encourage you to create a separation between what you need to do in your mindset to keep moving and how you treat a person. Yeah. I want to add to, uh, another thing you could do is test yourself. If you believe all you're saying is true, put yourself in the water and make sure and see if you can swim and that's gonna humble you one way or the other.
The other, you know, gonna [00:03:00] humble you or, or feed your ego. The other thing I want you to do is make sure that you are, again, just not trying to take all the credit, like give credit where, 'cause people, some people have helped you get to where you are, even if it's your clients. I have to add, Hey, I wouldn't even be here if it weren't for my clients.
That's right. Add that into the conversation as well. Advice, great advice. Characters from corporate. Keep writing in. We want keep hearing your stories. I like the fact that you all are questioning yourselves. That's the sign of an intelligent person. You're wondering like, how can I do these things? We're here, we got you characters from.
